DESCRIPTION:Witch Hazel was one of the first botanicals that Nancy learned about while wildcrafting. It intrigued her that this seemed to be the only plant that regularly bloomed in winter along her creek. In this class we will go out into the woods\, find some witch hazel blooms and return to the barn to learn how to process and utilize it for everything from fever blisters to varicose veins \nNOTE: This class has been rescheduled for February 1 due to weather concerns. We have removed the tickets tab and allowinng attendees to pay at the door on that day since weather can be so variable. DESCRIPTION:February is heart health month. We frequently receive questions from clients about the heart medication that their physicians have not satisfactorily explained in a way that is easy to understand. “Ace inhibitors\, Calcium channel Blockers\, Statins\, Beta Blockers” and other medical jargon can muddy the works if you don’t have a scientific back ground. \nIn this class we look at what the common use for these are\, and what herbs actually have similar or same action. As more and more herbals are being sought as remedies we thought it might be helpful to have this information so that !. people don’t duplicate therapies\, 2. Having knowledge of alternatives if the grid goes down or supply chains are suddenly halted due to a disaster\, or other unforseen event. \nThis course comes with its own printed handout for reference later on.

SUMMARY:Best Practices for Planting Remedy Seeds: A Make and Take Experience
DESCRIPTION:Late February is when we usually start seeds needed for the remedy garden. We will plant a variety of herbs used for remedy\, talk about ideal growing season for each one\, share two methods used to ensure plants are identifiable easily and those who could easily be mistaken for an unwanted look alike \nWhen establishing a remedy garden\, the purity of the botanical is all important. As we add to our own gardens for the season\, participants will receive at least 6 remedies plants to take home and establish – or add to – the therapeutic plants to use for their own garden. \nAll materials (pots\, organic soil\, plugs) are furnished. Just bring yourself (and possibly a friend) \nAll planting will be done in the barn so we have room to spread out.
